Frequently Asked Questions
-
Words of Hope specializes in early childhood speech therapy for toddlers and preschoolers (12 months to 5 years old). I support children with speech and language delays, developmental differences, and families who want to be proactive about their child’s communication.
-
If you’re wondering whether your child might benefit from speech therapy, it’s worth exploring. You might notice your child isn’t talking yet, is difficult to understand, has trouble following directions, or gets frustrated when trying to communicate. I offer free 30-minute phone consultations to talk through your concerns and decide on a plan that feels right for your child.
-
A treatment plan is created at the initial evaluation, with many children benefiting from weekly, 60-minute visits. Sessions are play-based and built around your child’s interests. Since visits occur at your home, caregivers will be involved the whole time, learning simple strategies to use in your everyday routines.
-
Yes, an evaluation helps me create an individualized treatment plan based on your child’s current strengths and needs. If your child already has a recent evaluation from a speech-language pathologist, we can review it together to determine the next steps.
-
Absolutely. This is one of the benefits of being a private pay provider. Words of Hope is not limited to pre-determined eligibility requirements— instead, I focus on how to best support your child’s everyday communication and experiences.
-
Yes! As a pediatric speech-language pathologist and a mom, this is one of my favorite ways to support families. I have advanced training in parent coaching programs, including “It Takes Two to Talk” and “Learn with Less.” Coaching is naturally embedded into sessions. I also offer parent-child classes where you will learn practical, realistic strategies to use in everyday moments. My goal is to support you— because you are the expert on your child!
-
I believe the most progress happens when sessions occur in the child’s natural environment, such as their home or daycare/preschool. Words of Hope provides in-home speech therapy services for families across St. Charles County (St. Charles, St. Peters, O’Fallon, Wentzville). There is no additional travel fee within these areas.
-
As a private pay practice, Words of Hope does not bill insurance directly. A superbill can be provided upon request. Payment is due at the time of service via a HIPAA-compliant platform (credit, debit, HSA/FSA).
